Building a better church for the future case study

Challenge

The organisation were looking for options to fully rationalise and restructure their Australian footprint.  This included options across their current Education and Aged Care structures.  Previous attempts to complete this work using internal resources had stalled, and they required external help to provide guidance and a structured process.

Deliverables

Allegra completed an extensive diagnostic across all functions of the organisation. This included their existing governance, financial and support functions, requiring extensive stakeholder engagement and detailed quantitative and qualitative analysis to define workable options.

To manage the significant dependencies and provide consistent communication across the organisation, Allegra provided the terms of reference and chaired a cross-functional working group to provide guidance and communication content.

Allegra provided the organisation with a detailed report setting out a number of structural options, supported by detailed financial analysis, optimal governance structures, likely member impacts and impacts to their education and aged care functions.

The report tabled was of significant benefit to the organisation as they enter into a long and necessary consultation process to ascertain member preferences.

Lesson

When restructuring, the certainty of the design principles and clarity of the available options leads to sound decision making and communication with affected stakeholders.
